Everybody has a different interpretation of what the 2nd Amendment means to them.
For some it is about freedom and liberty, being able to defend yourself against a tyrannical Government.
For others it is about home defense from a bump in the night.
For some people it’s just about hunting and for others it’s about competition shooting.
To some people it’s all about being tactical and taking classes with Active or Ex Military and law enforcement and for others it’s simply about concealed carry.
But the bottom line is every American has the right to bear arms and defend themselves...
With all of those ways to exercise the 2nd Amendment and what it might mean to you, the choice is up to you if and how to exercise it.
But we must not lose sight that of all the cool things and ways we can exercise the 2nd Amendment, at it's core, it was made to be about self reliance and self protection.
Other people in other countries do not have that luxury as they do not have it as a right.
Being an American affords you the right no other country on the face of the planet has - the ability to defend oneself.
For example if a mass shooting happens, the government can’t irrationally react in response by instantly banning guns the next day just like in New Zealand.
Once rights are gone, they are gone forever.
Benjamin Franklin once said: "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
We must fight for our rights today so our grand children have the same rights in the future that we do today.
The 2nd Amendment is a precious thing we must protect and fight for, it is under attack today more than ever with the recent climate.
We must stick together and fight to keep things as they are because today is the best we will ever have it.
I recently made a post on instagram that I will share here -
Ways to help support the 2nd Amendment are -
We need more examples of good gun owners today than ever, we need Concealed Carriers embracing the Concealed Carry lifestyle, spreading the message, introducing new people to the community, being advocates, being responsible gun owners and law abiding citizens.
Not to get too philosophical on you but like many things in life, we really don't know what we have until it's gone and like most good things we take them for granted until it's too late and all good things come to an end.
Being complacent is the dangerous part by thinking it will never happen here, today, tomorrow or "in my lifetime."
If you grew up in the USA you probably have not experienced life without the 2nd Amendment. So it's understandable to be a bit complacent as you don't know anything else, it's normal to you as you don't know the alternative.
Well I do, I grew up in England and have experienced life with and without the 2nd Amendment and I will take WITH over WITHOUT any day.
We have it very good over here but I don't want to get too off topic - thats a whole other story and you will be able to read about that in a future article.
Being able to defend ourselves is not something we should ever take for granted we are so lucky to have that.
There will be other Articles where we will cover, the current anti gun climate, anti gun arguments and our take on that, growing up in England without the 2nd Amendment.
We don't need to rely on anyone to protect us, we can do that ourselves, we are a country built on the premise of freedom and independence and we don't like being told what we can and can't do.
So in conclusion - For us the 2nd Amendment is about all of that, self reliance, self defense, the ability to defend oneself, your loved ones, your property and defend yourself against anyone, most of all and including the government, the founding fathers had the foresight to see what had happened in the past and wanted to prevent it from happening in the future. The easiest way then and now that man can defend himself is with a gun, plain and simple.
